The Homestead resort north of Glen Arbor opens today for lodging and short-term rentals. “America’s fresh water resort”, which celebrates its 50th birthday in 2020, will also open Whiskers indoor/outdoor bar and grill and Cavanaugh’s deli and general store. Both will serve customers at 50 percent capacity and also offer takeout. Whiskers will offer outdoor live music on weekends later this summer.

In advance of Glen Lake Restaurant Week, May 1-9, we reached out Chef John Piombo at Nonna’s to ask what excites him about this culinary opportunity before the local tourism season kicks into gear. Participating restaurants will offer their own 3-course prix-fixe dinner for $25. Some establishments will offer $15 lunch specials as well. Glen Lake Restaurant Week began in spring 2014.

It isn’t often that a winemaker from Italy travels to Leelanau County to interact with dinner guests, but on Sept. 26, Angela Maculan of Maculan Estate Winery will be at The Homestead to do just that.
