Solstice Half Marathon returns June 21

News

From staff reports

Endurance Evolution’s third annual Glen Arbor Solstice Half Marathon & 5k takes place on Saturday, June 21 at 7 a.m. The event is a scenic half marathon and a 5k run/walk race in Glen Arbor.

The half marathon will take runners around Big Glen Lake in a clockwise loop, starting and finishing in downtown Glen Arbor. Runners ascend Inspiration Point on the south side of Big Glen Lake where they will experience one of the most spectacular views of Leelanau County. The 5k course is flat and fast, and will take runners and walkers through tree-lined roads on the edge of downtown Glen Arbor.

Race sponsor Honor Bank introduced a company-wide “Live Well, Work Well” initiative in January. “The program was created to promote healthy eating, wellness and fitness,” says vice president, and marathon runner, Norm Plumstead. “When Endurance Evolution approached us to sponsor the Glen Arbor Solstice event, it was a natural fit. Their organization and this event embody what we’re trying to instill in our staff: healthy living.”

The half-marathon is USATF-certified, and a portion of every registration fee will go to a charitable organization chosen by Glen Arbor Township. Endurance Evolution is a Michigan-based endurance lifestyle and event management company specializing in triathlons and running races. Each race is designed according to the four core service philosophies: to create a complete race experience; use courses that are meant for racing; deliver unparalleled customer service, and provide service that goes beyond the day of the race.
