Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail not yet ski-ready

News

From staff reports

Kerry Kelly, board chairman of Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes, reports on Monday, Dec. 9, that the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail between Glen Arbor and the Dune Climb has some snow, but not enough to ski on.

“The grooming team has been out to compact the snow that we do have so the winds don’t blow it away,” says Kelly. “Typically, winds around Glen Haven tend to scour the snow off the trail if not compacted. But they tell me that there is still not enough base to encourage skiing. You will break through to the asphalt and scratch your skis.”

Stay tuned for updates as conditions change.
