Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail ambassadors sought
Training Scheduled for Saturday, May 28
From staff reports
Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail ambassadors help visitors by answering questions, giving directions, and sometimes handing out coupons for Cherry Republic ice cream when they find trail users “Doing Something Right”. Ambassadors are also Friends of Sleeping Bear’s eyes and ears on the trail reporting maintenance or safety issues that need to be resolved.
The Friends nonprofit will give you a stylish, bright orange Ambassador vest, so visitors will know that you are official Park Volunteers, and ask that you report your observations and experiences after each ride. It’s easy and fun.
This training is for new and experienced Ambassadors. The meeting will be held at the DH Day Log Cabin in DH Day Campground — right along the Heritage Trail. Parking at the campground is limited, so ride your bike (and wear your helmet & vest! You can park at Glen Haven and walk or ride to the Log Cabin.
Date: Saturday, May 28 at 1 p.m.. We will update you on the status of the new section of trail, talk about fundraising for the last segments of trail, review experiences from last year, talk about safety and law enforcement issues. Then we’ll sign up new volunteers.
