Nature photographer to speak in Glen Arbor
Nature photographer Aubrieta Hope from DeKalb, Ill., will be the final artist in the Glen Arbor Art Association’s 2012 group of artists-in-residence. She particularly wanted a winter residency in order to photograph the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in all its winter glory and weather patterns. Hope intends to photograph the landscape in panoramic, wide-angle and macro images.
Hope turned to photography as a second career after being self-employed as a ghostwriter, editor and motivational speaker. She has completed intensive field workshops with professional photographers. She currently sells her prints through retailers in Michigan, Illinois and Texas, including national and state park gift shops.
Hope will be re-visiting this area to deepen her appreciation of the landscape and to experience the scenes “in different light and weather conditions.” Her presentation to the public will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m. at the Glen Arbor Art Association’s building at 6031 S. Lake Street in Glen Arbor across from the Cherry Republic. The program is free and refreshments will be served.
