Musicians from New York Met play Leelanau Youth Music recital

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

The public is invited to a casual evening of music on Friday, Aug. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at 308 Adams St. in Suttons Bay (the Martinson home). Two musicians from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra of New York City, Patricia Rogers (bassoon) and Michael Ouzounian (viola) will play selected pieces. They will be joined by the Prevailing Winds of Leelanau and the Leelanau Flute Ensemble. Other performers currently scheduled include Interlochen Arts Academy graduate and University of Michigan student Natalie Myers on French horn, Bobbie Lange on piano and Karl Christian on trumpet. Also featured will be 2018 Suttons Bay High School valedictorian, Emma Grant, on vocals.

Donations are suggested and refreshments will be served. Money collected will fund a music scholarship for Leelanau county youth to be used for lessons, camp, instruments and related needs.
