There will be a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 14, for Kayla Tondreau. The event will run from 3-8 p.m. at St. Rita/St. Joseph Hall in Maple City. The event will feature an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner complete with salad and dessert, a silent auction (a great way to finish your Christmas shopping), kid’s craft table, a visit from Santa (time to be announced), a fun photo booth, and live entertainment with “Parallel” from 6:30-8 p.m. All proceeds will go towards the family’s financial hardships from Kayla’s care. We look forward to a fun-filled evening to celebrate Kayla and raise money for the family and hope that you will consider joining us. We are also looking for items for our silent auction and monetary contributions are also being accepted. There is a fund set up at Traverse City State Bank named the “Kayla Tondreau Benefit Fund” and we are in the process f linking to a PayPal account for monetary donations. Kayla’s Story: Kayla became sick on Aug. 9 with a rash, that was followed by fevers and stomach pain. After multiple doctor appointments and a trip to University of Michigan Mott’s Children’s Hospital, Kayla was diagnosed on Aug. 30 with Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (SJIA), which is a rare form of Juvenile Arthritis that affects the entire body. It is characterized by recurrent fevers, a skin rash, widespread aches and pains, and fatigue. SJIA causes inflammation and swelling of joints and internal organs such as the heart, liver, spleen and lymph nodes.
