Leland Township Library launches summer children’s program

From staff reports

On Friday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m., Leland Township Library will kick off its summer children’s program with Leelanau locals Patrick Niemisto and Norm Wheeler of Luunappi as part of its 2021 Children’s Summer Reading Program. The word “luunappi” is Finnish for a finger snap to the ear. To Niemisto and Wheeler, it also means music and rhyme and tall tales. Join Luunappi for a morning filled with songs, stories, and poems for families on the turtleback in front of the library.

There is no cost to attend the program, which will be held in-person and outdoors (weather-permitting). Please bring chairs and/or blankets. In the event of inclement weather, we will move into the Munnecke room.
