Leland library holds Summinars speaker series

From staff reports

The Leland Township Public Library is proud to announce its 2025 Leland Library Summinars—a summer speaker series that brings together leading thinkers, authors, and educators for a season of free, thought-provoking lectures on history, policy, culture, science, and more.

Held in the Munnecke Room at the Leland Township Library, the Leelanau Summinars are now in their 14th year of engaging the community through intellectually stimulating programming.

This year’s lineup features nationally recognized voices, including:

• Nathan Salsburg on the discovery of American folk music (July 1, 7 pm)

• Molly Michelmore on the evolution of the income tax and democracy (July 8, 4 pm)

• Sarah Bennison on anxiety, connection, and the power of mattering (July 10, 4 pm)

• Christina Michelmore on U.S.–Iran relations and Middle Eastern policy (July 15, 4 pm)

• Paul Gregory on the ethical and philosophical challenges of AI (July 22, 4 pm)

• JoAnne Cook on Anishinaabe ceremonies and cultural knowledge (July 24, 7 pm)

• Perry Samson on climate change in northern Michigan (July 29, 4 pm)
