Leelanau vignettes

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

Vignettes of the Leelanau landscape are Holly Sturges’s theme in an exhibition of painting at Center Gallery/Lake Street Studios, 6023 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. This show opens Aug. 19 with a 6 p.m. public reception.

The Leelanau peninsula has been the focus of Sturges’s expressive paintings in the last decade. “The theme of my show is the beauty of Leelanau,” said the Grand Rapids artist, who works in oil paint and oil pastel. “It is everywhere and I want to get it down on paper and canvas.”

Sturges’s show continues through Aug. 25. For more information, please call (231) 334-3179.
