Leelanau League of Women Voters discusses impact of COVID-19 on agriculture

The League of Women Voters Leelanau County invites the public to participate in a virtual educational forum, “The Impact of COVID-19 on Agriculture in Leelanau County” on Wednesday, April 7 at noon.

The League’s Farm Labor and Immigration Task Force will present a panel discussion on the COVID-19 situation and the impact on the Leelanau County agricultural community.

Panelists include Carolina Tábora, Public Health Tech/CHW, a Community Health Worker with the Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department with experience working with agricultural workers and their families; Michelle Klein, RN, MA, PH-C, a nurse administrator at the Director of Personal Health at the Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department and oversees a variety of public health programs, and Steve Bardenhagen, a Leelanau County fruit grower who also co-owns and operates Bardenhagen Berries and Homestead Hill CSA.
