League of Women Voters Leelanau County celebrate Women’s History Month

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

The League of Women Voters Leelanau County will celebrate Women’s History Month with a potluck lunch and presentation at noon on Wednesday, March 4, at the Leelanau County Government Center. Bring a dish to pass and a festive place setting. Drinks will be provided. During lunch there will be an informal discussion of women who have impacted our lives and an entertaining quiz on women in history.

The afternoon’s formal program will include a short overview of women in political office and a panel of recent female candidates in the Leelanau and Grand Traverse Area. They will address the questions of why they ran for office and what challenges they may have faced being women in politics. The panelists will be Leelanau County Commissioners Jean Watkoski and Patricia Soutas-Little; 86th District Judge Melanie Stanton and past candidate for the 104th State House district, Betsy Coffia.

Public is invited. Non-LWVLC members are asked to RSVP to Vina Mikesell at 231-386-5106.
