Holiday week kicks off winter activities at The Homestead

,

From staff reports

Old Man Winter arrived early this year, and Ullr is pleased. Mark Lentini, the new mountain manager at The Homestead, says the snow and cold temperatures have helped make the conditions better than ever at this point of the year. The resort is also offering special pricing to kick off the season.

The popular four-season resort is opening for ski season the day after Christmas, as long as Mother Nature continues to cooperate. And it looks like that will be the case, with highs in the 20s to low 30s and lows in the teens and 20s. That will allow Lentini and crew to make plenty of snow, in addition to what nature provides.

To help celebrate the season, The Homestead is bringing back its popular Ullr Festival, named for the ancient Norse god of winter and skiing. The expanded slate of activities is still being finalized, but will include family racing, a children’s lantern parade, a caricature artist, cookie decorating, and photo fun with Ullr—live and in person! Nonna’s will be running a new la carte menu through the season and Whiskers will host a daily happy hour, followed by live music.

The Homestead will also be offering special savings for those looking to stay onsite. They can save ten percent on one night, 20 percent on two nights and 30 percent on three or more nights at resort hotel accommodations, and 10 percent on rental management properties. Best of all is a 20 percent savings on lift tickets if purchased at the same time.

More good news: the resort will be providing special rates for locals as well. Those details are still being worked out and will be announced on the resort’s social media as well as other channels.

While all systems are go for winter activities, the resort has been experiencing problems with its phone system. The issues have mainly been with The Homestead’s reservations line, with callers experiencing difficulty getting through. As a result, it is using a new phone number for reservations: 231-244-1521.
