Glen Arbor Arts Center offers free one-year membership to first responders

From staff reports

The Glen Arbor Arts Center (GAAC) is proud to announce an opportunity for our healthcare workers, therapists, and first responders.

Studies show that creativity is a positive outlet for stress, and enhances mental health. In line with its mission to enrich community life through the arts, the GAAC is offering any health worker, therapist, or first responder a free, one-year individual membership for 2021.

A survey of 1,000 healthcare workers by the Mental Health Association revealed that healthcare workers are stressed out and stretched too thin. More than 75% reported that they were overwhelmed and were experiencing stress, anxiety, exhaustion and burnout. Offering a membership is one way that the GAAC can express thanks, show appreciation, and provide a creative outlet for those who have cared for so many during the COVID pandemic.

The GAAC is located at 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. For more information, visit GlenArborArt.org.
