Glen Arbor Arts Center hosts food conversation with Nancy Krcek Allen
From staff reports
Leelanau County chef and author Nancy Krcek Allen will talk about food, recipes and writing about them on July 10 at 11 am at the Glen Arbor Arts Center (GAAC). This outdoor program is offered as part of the GAAC’s exhibition “Food Is Art / Art Is Food” on display in the gallery through August 19. In the event of inclement weather, this program will take place on July 11 at 11 am.
The author of Discovering Global Cuisines, Allen spent five years researching and testing hundreds of recipes that comprise this culinary magnum opus. Published in 2013, the 933-page textbook is a tour of world spices, culinary tools, food traditions, culture, history and geography. During her conversation with GAAC gallery manager Sarah Bearup-Neal, Allen will talk about the process and challenges of bringing this passion project to fruition, and how one brings food to life through words.
The GAAC is located at 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. For more information about this free program or the Food Is Art/ Art Is Food exhibition, visit GlenArborArt.org; or call 231-334-6112.
