Glen Arbor Art Association Readers’ Theater announces Casablanca cast

The Glen Arbor Art Association announced the cast for its June 17-19 Readers’ Theater production of the movie/radio play Casablanca. All the performers and staging assistants are locals from Leelanau County.

Richard (Rick) Blain will be played by Brian Iler of Beulah. Ilsa Lund will be played by Claire Shipley of Maple City. Capt. Louis Renault will be played by Peter Van Nort of Glen Arbor. Victor Laszlo will be played by Michael Duwe, of Glen Arbor. Major Heinrich Strasser and Ugarte will be played by Teddy House of Maple City. Madame Ferrari and Berger will be played by Susan McConnell of Lake Leelanau. Sam will be played by Rob McWatt of Empire. Carla will be played by Cindy Hollenbeck of Maple City. Col. Heinz, Lt. Casselle and the Gendarme will be played by David Watt of Glen Arbor.

Kathleen McCormick of Leland is assistant director, Harriett Mittelberger of Empire is producer, Robert House of Maple City will handle lighting duties, Sydney Hazelton of Glen Arbor is sound engineer and directing the play will be Glen Arbor local Ron Smith.

Dates for the performances are June 17-19, at the Glen Arbor Art Association, 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. As always, the seats are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis, with reservations possible in advance at glenarborart.org. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on all three nights.
