Glen Arbor Art Association features Ellie Harold
Frankfort, Michigan artist Ellie Harold is the current Artist-in-Residence at the Glen Arbor Art Association. Her presentation for the public will be held on Thursday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m. All are invited to hear the artist discuss her work and to enjoy light refreshments.
Harold served as Artist-in-Residence at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in 2009. During this period she became passionate about the Sleeping Bear landscape and homestead structures. She is an avid plein air artist and has organized paint-outs for groups of artists.
During her two week residency in Glen Arbor she is concentrating on the iconic barns and farm houses of the Port Oneida area. She has a body of work already featuring barns in the Benzie/Leelanau area. She has self-published a book and is planning a “book that would include painting images with accompanying prose-poem narrative based on research” from the residency.
Harold paints exclusively in oil and works full time at her art. She has attended numerous workshops around the country and has exhibited in many juried shows and galleries. She paints and exhibits extensively in Vieques, Puerto Rico, where her vibrant palette brings to mind Edward Hopper.
