Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes hold annual spring safety training

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

Join Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes for their annual spring safety training on Saturday, May 18, from 1-3 pm at the Empire Town Hall. Those unable to attend in person can join online here. The link will also be posted on the Friends website the day of the training. This event is a chance for volunteers to hear the latest park news and safety information from park staff.

The general training will be followed by 2 pm breakout sessions for Adopt-A-Trail, Adopt-A-Beach, Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail and Trail Crew, Preventative Search and Rescue, and the Track Chair/Duet Bike Accessibility programs. This year, members of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore team will be on hand to discuss additional opportunities to volunteer in the park, including the Bark Ranger and Piping Plover programs and as docents at Glen Haven or the park Visitor’s Center.

More information on volunteer opportunities with the Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes can be found at FriendsofSleepingBear.org.
