Empire host Kelly Miller circus

From staff reports

The Empire Sleeping Bear Eagles #4404 has signed a contract with the Kelly Miller Circus for a brand new show this month. The circus will roll into town on Tuesday, Aug. 23. Everyone is invited to come out and watch the animals being unloaded and fed, and the elephants raising the big top. Activities will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the tent will be raised at 9 a.m. Guides will be furnished for school groups and anyone attending.

The traditional “old style” circus will present two performances at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Support the Empire Sleeping Bear Eagles. Buy your tickets in advance and save. This circus promises to be more exciting than ever with many new acts and entertainers to amaze and amuse you.

The Kelly Miller Circus, founded during the Great Depression, marks another milestone this year as it celebrates its 73rd anniversary. Founded in 1938 by Obert Miller and his sons Kelly and Dores, this traditional tented circus has seen the passing of nearly three-quarters of a century and still offers the same great family entertainment it presented during its humble beginnings.

This year’s show in Empire will feature elephants, tigers, horses and a cast of international circus stars under a beautiful circus bit top.
