Interlochen Arts Academy’s “Sound Garden Quintet” plans to “take over” Glen Arbor this June and bring free classical music pop-up performances to various public spaces and businesses. The goal of Sound Garden, which launched in the Grand Traverse area last summer, is to “plant music in unexpected places.”

Glen Arbor Arts Center artist-in-resident David LeGault talks about residency on Friday, May 13, noon in the GAAC classroom. The presentation is open to public at no charge. LeGault, a resident of Westland, Michigan, used his residency to work on and revise a collection of essays on the subject of board games, and the history of games. LeGault will discuss his book revisions, and the mechanics of crafting a unified narrative.

The Crystal River Outfitters Recreational District in Glen Arbor is hosting its first Districtwide Easter Egg Hunt. The festivities will take place on Saturday, April 16. The afternoon will be full of Easter activities and family fun. The event will kick off at 3 pm with face painting and crafts. At 4 pm, the Easter Egg Hunt will begin with an opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny. Afterwards, families may enjoy spring drinks (think wine cocktails and mocktails for the kids) and Peep ‘smores on the M22 Wine Patio.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has announced the world premiere viewing details of Water, Sand, and Sky, their new park film. The film will be premiered during National Park Week, April 16-24, at 10 northern Michigan venues with 13 showings in a public campaign called “Sleeping Bear Everywhere.” Venue and event details are listed below, and available on the National Lakeshore’s website at Water, Sand, and Sky Film Premiere (U.S. National Park Service).

The National Lakeshore is looking for local venues who may want to host a premiere at their site.
The M22 Challenge returns on Saturday, June 11, 2022. This unique bike, paddle, run event showcases the area’s natural features with a 2-mile run up the Sleeping Bear Dune climb, a bike race around Big and Little Glen Lake, and a a paddle race in Little Glen. Registration will open March 1 at 8 a.m. sharp, and fills up quickly.
The second annual Icebreaker ice sculpting event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Old Art Building in Leland. The event features a sculpting demonstration by a professional ice artist, along with teams comprised of community members of all skill levels.
