Blu reopens dining room for first time in 13 months as Glen Lake Restaurant Week begins

News

From staff reports

Blu chef and co-owner Randy Chamberlain wrote on his Facebook page that he and Mari will reopen their dining room, at 50 percent capacity, on Friday, April 23, for the first time since COVID-19 officially arrived in Michigan in March 2020.

The opening date is timed to coincided with Glen Lake Restaurant Week, which runs April 23 until May 1. Click here for a list of participating restaurants. The Restaurant Week menu is available, as well, for curbside service, which sustained Blu through 2020.

Blu began taking reservations on Friday, April 16, for indoor dining, which will run Tuesday thru Saturday at 5 p.m.

“Masking is mandatory to dine-in. Please do your part,” wrote Chamberlain, who received his second COVID-19 vaccine shot on April 5.

Michigan continues to suffer through a worst-in-the-nation Coronavirus surge, exacerbated by the U.K. variant, as well as “COVID fatigue” among citizens not yet vaccinated, who ignore recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and gather in crowds without masks.

“The sunset on Sleeping Bear Point is back,” he wrote. “Tables will soon be set, silver and glass will be polished. And Glen Lake Restaurant Week begins on our opening night next Friday. With a heavy yet delicate balance of excitement, caution, fear and optimism … we are happy to be back.”
