Old stores have state-of-the-art technology, too.
Bahle’s of Suttons Bay, a destination for quality and comfort for more than 145 years, now sports a modern technology twist.
On Saturday, May 20, Bahle’s will hold its Scott Barber Made to Measure Party and unveil a dressing room camera which needs just two measurements to make an avatar of the customer’s body. In five minutes the apparatus can size you up for a custom shirt and offer three different options: slim, classic and modern fits.
Custom shirts are great for a guy who has a hard time getting a shirt to fit him, explained Bahle’s employee Chris Hufford. “I used to do this for 20 years with measuring tape.”
A representative from Scott Barber, the Colorado-based quality men’s clothing line, will attend the May 20 event in Suttons Bay. Bahle’s has sold Scott Barber for many years.
“What’s unique about our made to measure option is that we have a no-shirt minimum requirement, and two-week delivery,” said Hufford. “The first delivery comes to the store so we make sure it fits. After that it comes to your house.” Hufford said that Bahle’s made to measure shirts cost only $35-$40 more than readymade shirts.
“We’re optimistic about this. People are asking for dressier clothes. Following COVID, let’s get out and see the world again. In the summertime we always see people who come here for weddings and forget their shirts or ties or socks, so they come see us.”
The Made to Measure party will feature a charcuterie board courtesy of Burritt’s Market in Traverse City and cocktails by Northern Latitudes Distillery, which now boasts a Suttons Bay location.
