Writer Elizabeth McBride from Grand Ledge, Mich., will be the artist-in-residence at the Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) from May 19 to June 1, with a presentation on May 30. She plans to continue to revise and work on a collection of poems to be published and to develop a portfolio of nature poems of place and discovery.

McBride received her BA in psychology from Hope College and her MA in Family Studies from Michigan State. She is a regular participant in Jack Ridl’s “Landscapes of Poetry” workshops which is a yearly commitment of five months. Her work has been published in numerous literary magazines and she regularly participates in educational speaking engagements. As a Fellow of the National Writing Project, she says “my goal is to use my training as a poet, writer, and educator to help others uncover and develop their creativity in a workshop environment and through school and classroom visits.”

At the end of her two week residency McBride will give a presentation to the public at the GAAA building at 6031 S. Lake Street on Studio Lane across from the Cherry Republic. The program will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30. The event is free and refreshments will be served.
