9 Bean Rows, Bay Theatre host Suttons Bay Pride

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

On June 28 from 6-11 p.m. the Michael Chetcuti Foundation will hold a Suttons Bay Pride event hosted by 9 Bean Rows in partnership with The Bay Theatre and Up North Pride. The evening will include food, drinks, film, and engaging discussion. A portion of the proceeds benefits Up North Pride. Tickets are $25 online at MyNorthTickets.com/events/suttonsbaypride or $35 at the door.

Beginning at 9 Bean Rows Restaurant, from 6-7:45 p.m., enjoy small plates, cocktails/mocktails, and mingling. Walk over to The Bay Theatre afterward from 8-9:45 to watch the documentary To A More Perfect Union: U.S. v. Windsor, about a lesbian woman who sued the government after the death of her spouse because federal benefits were denied to same-sex couples. After the film, there will be a 30-minute Q&A with LGBTQ+ community members about what it means to be LGBTQ+ both in northern Michigan and in the United States as a whole, and how we can support the movement. This portion of the event is FREE and open to the public.

Return to 9 Bean Rows from 10-11 p.m. to continue the discussion in a more intimate setting and to enjoy nightcaps and dessert. This portion is included in the ticket price for the entire event, but is also open to the public for a $10 entry fee.
