Woman’s Club hosts Glen Arbor Art Fair

The 48th annual Glen Lake Woman’s Club Art Fair will take place on July 17, 10 am to 4 pm, at the Glen Arbor Township Hall, 6394 W. Western Ave, Glen Arbor, MI.

Often the busiest day of the year in Glen Arbor, the Fair has something for everyone. Up-North style, juried artwork in a variety of mediums as well as face painting, a raffle, and lunch for purchase. 

All proceeds from the Art Fair are used to provide college scholarships for local high school students.  In addition to sponsoring the Art Fair, the Woman’s Club is involved in the beautification of the Old Settlers Picnic Grounds, hosts the annual 4thof July Flag Raising Program at Old Settlers Park, and manages the Chapel for weddings and other events. 

Membership in the Glen Lake Woman’s Club is open to any woman in the area.

Glen Lake Woman’s Club awards college scholarships

On May 23, the Glen Lake Woman’s Club awarded college scholarships at the Glen Lake Honors Night at Glen Lake High School. During the ceremony, the Glen Lake Woman’s Club awarded eight college scholarships to outstanding high school seniors. All winners attended an interview conducted by the Scholarship Committee; talking about their college goals and high school accomplishments. Second Year College scholarships will also be given to Glen Lake graduates Nick Rice, Drake Parker, Dakota Famiano, Kaylee Butts, and Lydia Drzewiecki. Members of the Glen Lake Woman’s Club Scholarship Committee are Mary Giesler, Barbara Siegel, Mary Peterson, and Janice Freeman.

Since 1980, $228,060 has been awarded to 161 students with both 1- and 2-year scholarships. The Glen Lake Woman’s Club raises funds for the scholarship program with the annual Glen Arbor Art Fair held the third Thursday of July each year. Thousands of people shop the Art Fair for that unique piece of art, either for themselves or for a special gift. This year’s fair will take place on July 17.
