The Glen Arbor Art Association’s Readers’ Theater announces the cast for its October production of an adaptation entitled Radio Days. The production is actually two playlets, with the first being a comedy and the second a mystery. A broadcast from the NBC program The Fabulous Dr. Tweedydeals with a bumbling college professor and a young child left by her father into his care. A CBS program Inner Sanctum provides the second offering, which was called “The Voice On The Wire”.

Auditions will be held for The Bishop’s Wife on October 10 at 7 p.m. at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church (GLCRC), 4902 MacFarlane Road in Glen Arbor.

Madame La Gimp is a hilarious tale of antics and romance. A down on her luck New York fruit seller named Apple Annie (Madame La Gimp) has the shock of her life when she learns her long separated daughter is coming with her fiancé and his parents from Spain to meet her. It seems that Apple Annie has been characterizing herself in her letters as a wealthy aristocrat. Because one of her steady customers, gangster Dave the Dude, believes she is his good luck charm, he decides to extend the charade by helping Annie pose as a New York socialite.

The Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) Readers’ Theater productions have become eagerly anticipated, playing to a full house at nearly every performance. The next performance will be The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, with Josephine Zara as director and Celeste Crouch as assistant director. Auditions will take place at the Art Association on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. The play calls for eight men and three women.

Glen Arbor Art Association’s Readers’ Theater will hold auditions Wednesday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m. The play “God Bless the Child” is an actor’s dream. A drama, set in rural Wisconsin, it is the story of Naomi and Oliver working on their second/third marriage with their newly blended families. Their conflicts end with unexpected results. The characters are: Naomi 60s – 70s, Oliver – 60s – 70s, Jamie O’Neill, Naomi’s grandson – 27, Carey O’Neill, his wife – 26, Porter Chapman, Oliver’s son, Cal Chapman, Oliver’s grandson.

“Motherhood Out Loud” is coming to Glen Arbor from off-Broadway on Friday, Feb. 27, Sat., Feb. 28 and Sunday, March 1. This delightful play encompasses the hilarity and struggles of motherhood. Harriett Mittelberger directs the cast, which includes Karen and Peter Van Nort, Susan McConnell, Teddy House, Rhonda Richards, Mary Sharry, Linda Dewey, Pete La Placa and Mike Duwe, each playing multiple roles. “Motherhood Out Loud” has mature themes and is rated 14+ for the public. For all you mothers, grandmothers, daughters and the men who love them, this play is for you.
