Maple City artist Carol C. Spaulding will conduct a painting demonstration on June 8 at 1 p.m. at the Lake Street Studios Center Gallery, 6023 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. This demonstration is open to the public as part of the artist’s exhibition, “Color of Light,” at Center Gallery through June 26.

The difference between an artist and a business person is that the business person makes art in order to make money and the artist makes money in order to keep making art. Becky Thatcher is the latter, a genuine artist. “Bodies,” an exhibition oil paintings of water by Steven Walker, opens Aug. 9 at the Center Gallery at Lake Street Studios, 6023 S. Lake St. in Glen Arbor. There will be a reception for the artist at 6 p.m. Walker, a resident of Westerfield, Ohio, uses bodies of water to illustrate light and the ways in which it is conveyed in crashing waves, ponds, creeks and streams. In addition to his studio practice, Walker teaches oil painting at the McConnell Arts Center in Columbus, Ohio. “Bodies” continues through Aug. 15.

On Sunday, July 29 at 8 p.m. the annual Arts Collage event will take place outdoors at the Studio Stage, located behind Lake Street Studios in Glen Arbor. The rain location is the Glen Arbor Town Hall. This year’s Arts Collage features guitarist Will Pearsall, poets Teresa Scollon and Anne-Marie Oomen and the Ann Arbor Film Festival.
