Sculpture — architectural and totemic — comes to Center Gallery for an extended stay. The work of artists Larry Fox and Van Wilson is on display Sept. 18-Oct. 11. A 6 p.m. reception for the artists opens the show.

This summer Czamanske, Uhlmann, David Westerfield and Angela Schuler all exhibit their work at, and take turns manning, the Arbor Gallery. The space is located between Ruth Conklin Gallery and the Sylvan Inn, in the building on M-109 formerly occupied by Ashmun Portrait Art. They’ve taken to calling this the “west end art district.”
Grand Rapids artist Randi Ford paints “This Land,” a series of acrylic and gouache landscapes of Northern Michigan. This show of plein air and studio paintings opens July 3 at Center Gallery, 6023 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor. A reception to open the exhibition is 6-8 p.m.
The Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) is holding an exhibition of 35 of its members’ paintings and photographs. There will be an opening reception 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 15, and the exhibit viewing will be open weekdays until June 15. The show will be judged and prizes will be announced at the opening reception. Some of the member artists that will be displaying their art include Joan Richmond, Carol Spaulding, L.C. Chittenden Lim, Lily Lafollette and Cherie Correll. Most artwork will be for sale and many of the artists will be on hand to meet the public at the reception.
Fall For Art in Leelanau (FFA) is a self-guided tour of the peninsula’s galleries. Now in its ninth year, FFA takes place over the Columbus Day weekend (Native Peoples’ Day), Oct. 10-12, and for good historical reason.

The Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Program offers two-week residencies for practicing artists who would like the opportunity for focused, creative exploration. Residencies are considered in writing, photography, sculpture, fiber, ceramics, music, painting, philosophy and creative research. Public presentations are an opportunity for the artist-residents to talk about their experience in Leelanau County, and share insights into their residency.
Pennsylvania artist and printmaker L.C. Lim will present her work during her residency at the Glen Arbor Art Association on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. The award winning artist teaches painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and in Frankfort, Mich., during the summer. Her work is exhibited at the River Gallery in Frankfort. Prior to her career as an artist, Lim studied engineering and business to put herself through the University of Michigan. She became successful in corporate America managing a large division of a Fortune 100 company before realizing that she was not satisfying an important part of her “inner being.”
The Glen Arbor Art Association has invited Minnesota artist Andy Evansen to teach a workshop titled “Creating Impressionistic Landscapes in Plein Air”. During the four day workshop, Evansen will provide a combination of studio and plein air instruction, October 15-18 at The Homestead Resort near Glen Arbor.
Holland artist Susan Keen looks at the landscape then translates it into an abstraction of brilliant color and shape. An exhibition of her acrylic paintings opens at Center Gallery Aug. 17, 6 p.m. with a reception.
