The final presentation of the Glen Arbor Art Association’s Artist-in-Residence series will be on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. Pennsylvania artist and summer resident of Burdickville, Lynn Uhlmann will present her work of landscapes in the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore.

On Tuesday, July 26, the Glen Arbor Women’s Club hosts the Fifth Annual “Running Bear 5K Run/Walk and ½ Mile Kids’ Run”. This event has become popular with locals and tourists alike who participate. Last year 680 adults and children took part.

On Lake Street in Glen Arbor, clusters of friends, fresh off a motorcoach, made their way south along the sidewalk. Some paused to browse at shops. Others ambled slowly toward a destination — a trio of wooden buildings known as “world headquarters for all things cherry.”

The Michigan Land Use Institute and its transit partners have published an attractive brochure listing all bus routes connecting Traverse City with six surrounding counties. It lists exact times and locales for boarding buses serving dozens of cities and villages.

Fiber artist Rachel Meginnes from San Francisco will present her Artist-in-Residence talk for the public on Thursday, June 23, at 7:30pm, at the Glen Arbor Art Association building on Studio Lane across from Cherry Republic. The program is free and light refreshment will be served.

“M-22 is all about the northern Michigan lifestyle,” an excited Matt Wiesen says while standing behind the wine counter at his and wife Katy’s new apparel store and tasting room in Glen Arbor. “It’s about a glass of wine on the boat, beaches, bonfires and a laid-back attitude.”
