Strauss merges science with storytelling at Leland Library
From staff reports
On Friday, June 21 at 10:30 am, storyteller Jenifer Strauss will visit the Leland Township Library and merge years as a science teacher and storyteller in an interactive, wacky program filled with intergalactic stories, songs and DIY ideas for young space explorers. Young patrons will orbit the moon, travel to the sun and the stars, and learn how to launch their own rocket. The program is intended for families and children ages 5-12. There is no cost to attend this program, which has been funded in part by Michigan Humanities, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
S.T.E.A.M.ing Through Space with Jenifer Strauss is part of the library’s summer reading programming for children titled “Oh, The Places You Can Read!” which will run from mid-June through mid-August and feature a different program every Friday morning at 10:30 am except Friday, July 19.
Strauss’s credentials include a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan, an elementary education degree from Western Michigan University, and a secondary education degree in Biology from Michigan State University. After 10 years of teaching Strauss started her business, Story Be Told, where she acts as a storyteller, narrative consultant, and motivational speaker.
