Shopping with the girls
The Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce will host the 4th Annual Girls Night Out on Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Glen Arbor Township Hall.
Over 25 local businesses, including restaurants, services, shops, accommodations and attractions will be presenting their services to local and visiting women. The event features wine and chocolate tasting, samples, door prizes, coupons, and a fashion show.
New for 2010, the Women’s Resource Center of Traverse City will be collecting gently worn women and children’s clothing to donate to women, and their children, who have been victims of domestic and sexual abuse.
“The idea came when we were discussing using Girls Night Out as a way to also benefit a charitable cause. We discussed how we always want to donate clothing after we clean out our closets in the spring, but quite often never have time to make it into Traverse City. Therefore, we asked the Women’s Resource Center to come to us,” said Katy Wiesen, Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce Marketing Coordinator.
The Women’s Resource Center provides education, support, counseling, and housing to women in Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, Kalkaska, and southern Antrim counties.
Clothing donations are not mandatory to attend the event, but encouraged and there is no limit on the donation.
Admission to Girls Night Out is free, and all are welcome to attend. Additionally, many local businesses and restaurants will stay open later in the evening so visitors can view the businesses they just discovered at Girls Night Out.
The Glen Arbor Township Hall is located at 6394 W. Western Ave (M-22), Glen Arbor. For more information check out www.visitglenarbor.com or contact Marketing Coordinator Katy Wiesen at (231) 360-4431
