Percentage of fully vaccinated Leelanau residents, 16 and up, passes 70 percent

From staff reports

Leelanau County is the first county in Michigan to cross the 70 percent threshold for residents, 16 and up, who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In Leelanau, 75 percent of residents have received at least one shot.

“These are amazing accomplishments for our small district! We want to share appreciation for our communities for taking action to get vaccinated and protecting yourself, your families, friends, and communities,” Lisa Peacock, health officer with the Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department said Thursday in a press statement.

Statewide, 49.7 percent of Michiganders, 16 and up, have completed their vaccinations, and 55.9 percent have received at least one shot.

The Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department has reported 0 new cases in three of the past four days this week, and just one case in the four-day span—the lowest tally in the district since last August.
