Organizations to Co-Host League of Women Voter Candidate Forums

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

The League of Women Voters Leelanau County (LWVLC) announces that it will co-host the Sept. 29, Oct. 4 and 6 Leelanau County Board of Commissioner candidate forums with the Leelanau Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and the Sept. 21 101st State Representative, County Prosecutor and County Treasurer candidate forum with the Leelanau Horticultural Society. The LWVLC is also co-hosting an Oct. 10 candidate forum for the 1st U.S. Congressional District in Traverse City with the League of Women Voters Grand Traverse Area, the International Affairs Forum, Interlochen Public Radio and UpNorthTV. The LWVLC is in the preliminary stage of planning a candidate forum for the Northport School Board race on Oct. 17. The current co-host for that event is the Northport Women’s Club. All events are open to the public.

Marian Kromkowski, president of the LWVLC and chair of it Voter Services committee states, “The League has always been open to co-hosting its candidate forum with other community groups that do not endorse or support candidates or parties. Planning for this year’s busy election cycle candidate forums began in July. We have been in discussion with local organizations and are pleased that these have stepped forward to help education the public on their choices in candidates.”

For more information on the forums and candidates, see LWVLeelanau.org and VOTE411.org.
