Library presents children’s programs
From staff reports
The Glen Lake Community Library in Empire will begin it’s summer season of children’s programs with a presentation on Thursday, June 18, at 11 a.m. by Al Declercq, author of Bernida: a Michigan Sailing Legend. Declercq’s book, about the sailboat that won the inaugural Port Huron to Mackinac Island race in 1925, was selected as a Michigan Notable Book by the Library of Michigan.
Other upcoming presentations, all of which will take place on Thursdays mornings at 11 a.m., include nature programs, local authors and music. Children are also invited to sign up for the summer book club, earning free books to keep by tracking their summer reading.
