The ladies of the Dunes Women’s Golf League lost a member and a dear friend this winter, Libby Brydges in a tragic incidence of carbon monoxide poisoning. To celebrate Brydges’ life and love of golf, they are sponsoring a Libby Brydges Memorial Golf Tourney on June 26 at the Dunes Golf Course in Empire.

A Shot-Gun Two-man Scramble will be played from 1 until approximately 5 p.m. with a cookout following the play. “Libby had so many friends,” said Hattie Townsend, chairman of the event. “We’re expecting a lot of people to enjoy the day in her honor.”

The fee for a day of golf with cart and cookout will be $60 per person. Players can sign up as a twosome or singly by the deadline of June 20. Those who don’t want to play golf can join the celebration with the players for the cookout for $15 per person.
There will be both golfing awards and door prizes. The proceeds will go to the Leelanau Conservancy in Libby Brydges’ honor.
