Leelanau Township Library in Northport hosts Summer Writers’ Series

Tuesday evenings in July in Northport will highlight a special writers’ series at the Leelanau Township Library. All of the events are free and open to the public.
Michigan authors whose topics range from a psychological thriller to a woman’s discovery of her dreams to a novel of Ojibwe people to a best-selling tale of horsemanship and war to the real life-saving courage of a group of nuns in Belgium will highlight the Summer Writers’ Series.
On July 9, Barbara Stark-Nemon spun a coming-of-age tale of a contemporary woman reaching for her dreams in Hard Cider.
On July 16, in Windigo Moon, A Novel of Native America,Robert Downesweaves a story that spans 400 years of Ojibwe people.
On July 23, journalist, lecturer, screenwriter and author, Doug Stanton will take us into the thrills of his major motion picture 12 Strong.
The final presentation of the season on July 30 is by Dennis Turner,What Did You Do in the War, Sister? This fictional memoir is inspired by real letters and courageous acts by a group of nuns in Nazi-occupied Belgium.
The program is sponsored by Friends of Leelanau Township Library. Each program begins at 7:30 pm at the library, 119 East Nagonaba Street, Northport. There is no cost to attend but donations would assist the continuation of the series.
