Leelanau Summer Music Festival presents Verdehr Trio

The Leelanau Summer Music Festival opens its 2013 season at the intimate Sala Koncertowa concert hall in Holy Rosary School 2.5 miles north of Cedar with the renowned Verdehr Trio, which will perform on Wednesday, June 19, at 8 p.m. After over 30 brilliant seasons, this season will be their last hurrah. This clarinet, violin, piano ensemble has appeared in major concert halls worldwide, often performing some of the over 200 works written especially for them. On the program are trios by Gian Carlo Menotti, famous in both the Broadway and classical worlds; Tony Award winner William David Brohn; popular University of Michigan Ann Arbor composer William Bolcom; and Jennifer Higdon. The concert will feature Five Postcards from Michigan by Detroit-born composer James Hartway that includes a musical picture of our very own Sleeping Bear Dunes.
