Leelanau Conservancy unveils Earth Week schedule
Conservancy Goes All Out for Earth Week with Daily Events, Love Letters to Leelanau and $5,000 Participation Challenge
From staff reports
The Leelanau Conservancy invites you to celebrate Earth Week in Leelanau, April 18-22. Starting Monday, the Leelanau Conservancy will host a week-long series of unique events to celebrate this annual homage to our planet. (See list below).
Also, stay tuned for “Love Letters to Leelanau” penned by local writers to be posted on the Conservancy website and social media throughout the week.
Finally, longtime Conservancy supporters Linda and Max Proffitt are offering a $5,000 incentive: if the Conservancy receives 175 donations during Earth Week, the Proffitts will donate $5,000 to the organization. The amount of an individual’s donation does not matter; the focus is on getting as many people involved during Earth Week as possible. (Visit LeelanauConservancy.org/earthweek or call 231-256-9665 to see all the events. Electronic link to donation site: https://www.crowdrise.com/earth-week-challenge/fundraiser/leelanauconservancy
“We think everyone should get on board with keeping Leelanau beautiful and pristine,” says Proffitt, who serves on the Leelanau Conservancy’s board of directors. “We hope that the idea of the challenge will inspire 175 or more people to participate and be a part of ensuring that the Leelanau we love today is preserved.”
Anyone who donates during Earth Week is entered into a drawing to win a $250 gift certificate from M22 as well as gift items from MyNorth.com and the Leelanau Conservancy.
“There’s no worthier endeavor for Earth Week than showing your love for Leelanau County by getting involved to preserve and celebrate this amazing place on Planet Earth,” says Tom Nelson, the Conservancy’s executive director. “We couldn’t be more grateful to the Proffitt Family for creating this exciting challenge, and to our Earth Week partners, M22 and MyNorth.com for all they are doing to help promote the challenge.”
“Simply put, there’s no place like Leelanau,” says Nelson. “We are excited for the chance to gather together with everyone who cherishes Leelanau.”
