Just Milling It Over

Letter to editor

I’m ashamed of the neglect for one of Glen Arbor’s most impressive landmarks. A historic monument to the areas pioneer past that stands in quiet solitude and stark decay. The lack of concern and care for the Glen Arbor Mill now appears to only welcome vandalism and fire, rather than an opportunity to preserve the old for the new. The Glen Arbor mill, once the heart of a community, deserves better.

The Glen Arbor community possesses the capital, creativity and foresight to change the fate of the Glen Arbor mill. But does it have the “Will” to meet the challenges of an owner, who apparently finds no value in a major, historical structure as its going, going, gone. Why not sell, donate or partnership the mill rather than destroy it? The mill is a dream come true to a preservation group and worth the effort to save it from, “Once upon a time”.
