Good Harbor Grill featured on “America’s Best Restaurants”

The Glen Arbor restaurant Good Harbor Grill hosted a visit from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) on Aug. 18.
America’s Best Restaurants is a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently owned restaurants. The network highlighted popular dishes and conducted on-camera interviews with co-owners Cos Burrows and Cady Hall about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will run on Facebook and YouTube sometime in October and will be featured here.
The Good Harbor Grill, which opened in 1991 on M-109 near the heart of Glen Arbor, is a quaint and cozy cafe-style restaurant popular with locals and tourists alike.
The original owners, Ann Derrick and Brendan Burrows, modeled the popular eatery after their wish-list for harbor restaurants: “Fresh bread, fresh vegetables and salad, something interesting and just plain good to eat.” After providing that to the local community they transferred ownership in 2019 to their son Cos Burrows and longtime employee Hall, who began working at the Grill as a teen.
Good Harbor Grill has no fryers, and offers fresh, healthy options that are local and in-season whenever possible. Their tag line is “fresh, local and delicious.” The restaurant has a nautical vibe and a menu of breakfast plates, omelets and benedicts, pancakes and waffles; lunch items of sandwiches, soups and salads; and dinner entrees such as seafood, steaks, salads, and pastas.
Popular dishes include the turkey & avocado sandwich, topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato, purple onion and herb mayo on their house-made cracked wheat bread; the breakfast Good Harbor combo, eggs with redskin potatoes, toast, and choice of bacon, sausage or ham; the house-made cherry-cinnamon coffee cake, and the Maryland crab cake sandwich. They use local maple syrup, custom-blended coffee, and local, seasonal greens and vegetables.
Restaurants featured on the ABR Roadshow are selected based on their customer reviews, menu items, social media presence, and level of involvement with their community.
