Glen Lake Library welcomes author Bonnie Jo Campbell

From staff reports

The Glen Lake Community Library in Empire will celebrate and host Michigan Notable Book Award winner and national best-selling author Bonnie Jo Campbell on Saturday, May 24 from 2-3 pm. Campbell will read from, discuss, and sign copies of her highly acclaimed 2024 novel, The Waters.

Fellow Notable Author and Empire resident Anne-Marie Oomen will lead the discussion. Books sales are courtesy of Glen Arbor’s Cottage Book Shop.

The event in Empire rounds out Campbell’s tour of five Michigan libraries—including Harrison, Oscoda, Alpena, Boyne—between May 22-24.

“It is a great honor to have The Waters chosen as a Michigan Notable Book!” writes Campbell. “I’m looking forward to heading north to visit readers, librarians, and fellow writers in some of Michigan’s most beautiful towns. Libraries enable the very best conversations!”

Campbell is author of the novels Once Upon a River, a National Bestseller which was adapted into a full-length feature film released to international claim in 2020, and Q Road. She lives outside Kalamazoo with her husband and two donkeys.
