Glen Lake Fire Department seeks new fire chief

News

From staff reports

The Townships of Glen Arbor and Empire are currently accepting applications and resumes for the position of fire chief. The Glen Lake Fire Department is a full-time, unionized, ALS transport agency which provides fire, rescue and EMS services to approximately 2,000 year-round residents.

In addition to protecting the townships of Glen Arbor and Empire, including the village of Empire and the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, the department responses increase dramatically in the summertime to provide services to the estimated 1.7 million tourists who visit the area annually. Protection responsibility includes normal 24 hour staffing and operation, including a large, state-of-the-art fire/rescue boat to provide rescue services on Lake Michigan and Glen Lake.

Applications are due by Jan. 25. For more information and to apply, visit the Glen Arbor Township website.
