Glen Lake Community Library 2011 Home Tour

From staff reports

The Friends of the Glen Lake Community Library will hold their biennial Home Tour on Thursday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The five homes on tour this year include:

The DuPont Home: Past side by side with present, this home features an authentic 1940s Glen Lake cottage and a 2005 stylish contemporary home with Asian and African treasures on Fisher Lake.

The Jacobs Home: In addition to being a “smart home”, this Victorian on Glen Lake features an inlaid wooden compass, three-floor elevator, a Bunk Room for nine and a Tower Room in a turret.

The Van Nort Home: This decorator’s home, located in the woodlands of Woodstone, stylishly displays a painting, sculpture or antique around every corner or on every wall.

The Stossel Home: Situated in Miller Hill Estates, this home offers a lot to enjoy and much to amuse you as it is full of unique art, antiques and collections.

The Goodnow Home: Near the eighth hole on the Dunes Golf Course, this 2006 spacious home creates warmth with a fieldstone floor to ceiling fireplace and other builder and owner “touches” throughout.

Tickets cost $15 and are not sold at the homes. Tickets, which are limited, may only be purchased in advance from: Friends of the Library Board members; Members of the Glen Lake Garden Club; The Cottage Book Shop in Glen Arbor, Glen Lake Community Library in Empire

On the day of the Home Tour, any remaining tickets will be available for sale only at the Library in Empire.

Carpooling is recommended because parking is limited in these residential areas.

Funds raised by the Friends contribute to ongoing programs, such as the preschool children’s “Stories and More,” general and special collections as well as future capital needs of the Glen Lake Community Library.
