Glen Arbor’s Chili Cook-Off and Perch Fishing Contest returns

In this photo from our archives, Ed Love shakes hands with his fresh perch at the Chili Cook-Off and Perch Fishing Contest on the deck at Boonedocks in Glen Arbor, which returns this year on Saturday, Feb. 19, from noon–3 p.m. Proceeds from the event fund scholarships for Glen Lake School students headed to college.

This year the Glen Lake Chili Cook-off is not charging a fee to enter your chili. Please send an email to Boonedocksga@gmail.com to enter by February 7. Admission to the chili cook-off is $10 per person, which includes unlimited chili samples. $5 for kids ages 6-12 and seniors 70+, kids under 6 enter for free.

Simultaneously with the Chili Cook-Off, The Sportsman Shop hosts the annual Perch Fishing Contest as either a spectator or participant. Sign up will take place at the Sportsman Shop in Glen Arbor from 6-7:30 a.m. Ice fishing takes place on the Glen Lakes. Bring your catches back to weigh in, at the Sportsman Shop at 1pm. Entry fee for the Perch tournament is $20. ($10 goes to chili cook-off and $10 to tournament. 100% pay out.) Call Bob at 231-883-5638 for more info.
