Business Feature, Upcoming Event

From staff reports

santa and mrs clause_at the 2014 holiday marketplace in glen arborThanksgiving Weekend in the Glen Lake area provides holiday community events full of fun, shopping and recreation for the whole family. Make the trip and visit the naturally beautiful Glen Arbor. Tree Lighting and Christmas caroling will get you in the spirit and give you something wintry to do the last weekend of November. A great opportunity to buy from your local artisans, shop for yourself and shop for the holidays.

Kick off the weekend Friday morning, Nov. 27 from 5-8 a.m., with a Glen Arbor original, “Better than Black Friday,” the Annual PJ Party. The town’s version of the day-after-Thanksgiving shopping. Shop the downtown district stores in your PJs for extra special discounts and fun. Shops offer special discounts during this time on clothing, gourmet foods, household decor, Michigan-made products, local artisan gifts, art, jewelry, toys and more. Shoppers can grab some coffee, baked goods and breakfast or lunch while in Glen Arbor that morning too.

Then, join the community Friday evening, Nov. 27, for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony and caroling outside of the Glen Arbor Township Hall at 6:30 p.m. Immediately following the tree lighting, warm up inside at the Glen Arbor Holiday Marketplace Preview Party: in the Glen Arbor Town Hall from 7-8 p.m. for local artisan gifts and shopping.

Shop local at both Holiday Marketplaces in Glen Arbor and Empire: These annual community event features a variety of artisans showcasing different types of gifts/work, with an emphasis on local and handmade products/artworks. There’s different artisans at both markets and plenty of time in the day for you, your friends and family to drive and shop both markets.

Plus, Nov. 28 is also the nationwide #ShopSmall Saturday! Shop all of your #SmallBiz in the greater Glen Lake area — visiting the shops, galleries and restaurants that are open through the season.
