Friends of Sleeping Bear seeks Heritage Trail ambassadors

Upcoming Event

From staff reports

Attend a training scheduled for Saturday, May 13, at 1 p.m. and become a Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail ambassador.

Trail Ambassadors help visitors by answering questions, giving directions, and handing out coupons for Cherry Republic ice cream when they find trail users “Doing Something Right”! Ambassadors are also our eyes and ears on the trail reporting maintenance or safety issues that need to be resolved.

Friends of Sleeping Bear will give you a stylish, bright orange Ambassador vest, so visitors will know that you are official Park volunteers, and ask that you report your observations and experiences after each ride. It’s easy and fun.

This training is for new and experienced Ambassadors. The meeting will be held at the DH Day Log Cabin in DH Day Campground — right along the Heritage Trail. Parking at the campground is limited, so ride your bike — and wear your helmet & vest! You can park at Glen Haven and walk or ride to the log cabin.

The training is Saturday, May 13 at 1 p.m. Friends will update you on the status of the trail and maintenance projects planned this year, talk about fundraising for building the last segments of trail, review experiences from last year, talk about safety and law enforcement issues. And we’ll sign up new volunteers.
