Educators: Spend your summer as a teacher-ranger-teacher at Sleeping Bear Dunes

News

From staff reports

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is recruiting one Teacher-Ranger-Teacher (TRT) to spend the summer in the park learning about the resource and developing education programs. The application deadline is May 16, 2016.

The TRT program is a professional development opportunity for educators from K-12 schools to learn about National Park Service education resources and themes. Participants in the program shadow NPS staff working in interpretation, natural and cultural resource management, environmental education, historical and scientific research, or other career fields.

This year’s Teacher-Ranger-Teacher will be assisting in the development distance learning curriculum based on National Lakeshore resources. The TRT program is in partnership with the University of Colorado Denver, which administers the program and offers continuing education or graduate credits to participants.

For more information and the application, please go to the National Lakeshore’s website at http://www.nps.gov/slbe/forteachers/development/teacher-ranger-teachers.htm. The National Lakeshore plans to hire their TRT soon, so send in your application by May 16.
