Detroit Public Television’s “Under the Radar” features Glen Arbor icons

Business Feature, Food/Organic Living, Local Personality

From staff reports

Are you stranded miles from Glen Arbor and miss your summer mecca? Do you miss waxing cherry poetic with Bob Sutherland, clinking glasses with Tim Barr or hiking Pyramid Point with Tom Ulrich? Then check out this great video from Detroit Public Television’s traveling “Under the Radar” series. You can stream the owners of Cherry Republic and Art’s Tavern, the Deputy Superintendent of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and Glen Arbor artists Becky Thatcher and Beth Bricker into your homes, thus satisfying your wanderlust.

Highlights from “Under the Radar’s” visit to Glen Arbor include Sutherland explaining how he started Cherry Republic by selling a t-shirt out of the trunk of his car (3:35) and Tim Barr narrating how cottage owners come to Art’s the evening they arrive in town after turning the heat on and waiting for their seasonal homes to warm up (9:10).

Speaking of great videos that feature northern Michigan, check out Migrid Michigan’s “Clean Energy Roadshow”, which features companies that promote renewable energy such as Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor, Aero Park Labs, T.C. Light & Power and Downtown TC Solar in Traverse City, Leelanau Community Energy and 5 Lakes Energy in Northport, Lake Winds Energy Farm in Ludington and Heritage Wind Farm in McBain.
