Crystal River Outfitters hosts Strolling Lights Festival

News

From staff reports

Kick off the holiday season with Glen Arbor’s first annual Strolling Lights Festival. The Crystal River Outfitters Recreational District invites families, groups or individuals to sponsor a tree to decorate this holiday season. All visitors are then invited to enjoy the works through the New Year. Even more importantly, proceeds from this festival will go to the Glen Lake Schools Student Assistance Fund.

To sponsor a tree the cost is $150 with a minimum of $100 per sponsored tree going towards Glen Lake Schools Student Assistance Fund. The balance will help cover the costs of the tree, lights and stands. The Student Assistance fund helps to meet the various needs of Glen Lake Schools Pre-K through 12 grade students and their families. Examples of needs that have previously been covered by the fund: paying families’ electric bills, or purchasing washers, dryers or refrigerators for student’s families that may not be able to afford one.

Pre-lit tees will be placed on the grounds of the Crystal River Outfitters Recreational District in Glen Arbor by November 12. Groups & families can choose a theme and must provide all decorations (tree, lights and stands will be provided by the Crystal River Outfitters). The sponsoring families/groups may then decorate their tree through November 27. It is the hope then that all trees will be fully decorated and available for strolling by all through the New Year. The Crystal River Outfitters Recreational District is open 7 days a week (closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day).

Take your tree as an opportunity to promote your organization, team, family or cause! Think of themes close to your heart and have fun with it!

If you would just like to donate to the Glen Lake School Student Assistance Fund, you may donate to the “District Giving Tree” and an ornament will be placed on the tree in your name.

The Crystal River Outfitters Recreational District is open daily throughout the holiday season (closed Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day). All trees will be available for viewing by November 27. You may stroll the grounds at any time and enjoy seeing the works of the generous sponsors. Visit our stores too for holiday shopping and Hot Spiced Wine! There is no charge to stroll!

Additionally, on November 27, in conjunction with the Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Marketplace, Santa will be on the M22 Glen Arbor Wine Patio from 11-2 to meet your kids, hear their holiday wishes and pose for family pictures. There is no cost to attend this and all are welcome!
