Crystal River Outfitters host Strolling Lights Festival through New Year’s Day, eye new building in Riverfront Pizza space in 2023
From staff reports
The Crystal River Outfitters Recreation District on Glen Arbor’s east end, which includes the M22 and Coastal retail stores, is attracting customers to its Strolling Lights Festival, which continues through New Year’s Day. Donations from the lit Christmas trees go to the Glen Lake School’s Student Assistance Fund.
M22 and Coastal are open year-round and offer shopping, wine tasting in their igloos, plus cross-country ski, snowshoe, and fat bike rentals at Crystal River Outfitters.
According to Katy Wiesen, who owns the three businesses together with her husband Matt, the year ahead will yield a new building across M-22 in the vacant lot which previously housed Riverfront Pizza & Deli.
“Cooley Contracting has begun work on a new building and we are looking forward to bringing another quality business to downtown Glen Arbor that will meet the needs of locals and visitors by Summer 2023,” said Katy.
“Unfortunately, due to the age and condition of the former Riverfront Pizza space, the building did have to be torn down as it wasn’t feasible to work within the current conditions. It was our initial hope to bring back Riverfront in the same tradition that Tim and Sue Nichols brought, but a variety of factors and life evaluation took us on another path that we are excited about.”
The Glen Arbor Sun will provide further updates as the Wiesens’ plans for Crystal River Outfitters develop.
